Sounds and music have always been a part of my journey, and they have always been a doorway into the otherworld, be it real, deep imagery, escapism, meditation, or anything else you might care to call it. I have great admiration for people with extensive musical knowledge, skill and techniques, but I have never made, listened to, or enjoyed music for the sheer mechanics of it. I have always looked for the deeper meaning in music, always have pondered why sounds and music are so inextricably entwined with my soul, and what that means to me, and to all of us as a race.
I got my first guitar at the age of eight but after the obligatory learning of Smoke on the Water and Iron Man, I pretty much left the world of structured music behind, looking instead for the deeper source of the feelings that music called to, often times losing myself for hours in a single note. This of course led to some strange glances and comments, even from friends who were, at the time, at least as high if not higher than I was.
Early adulthood (and the mostly uninformed decisions that are invariably made in that time) led me away from creating music for several years. I always listened to music of course, and it remained a source of soul contact for me, but I did not realize the desert I was in until the life that I had built crumbled around me in a series of tragedies and heartbreaks. After this extremely painful period in my life, I found myself on the road back to my soul and myself, and slowly I began creating music again.
The results, even as I continue that journey of return, are the soundscapes you will find here. This work is a culmination of experiences and influences from many directions. Music, psychology, ecology, spiritual philosophy, and mythology all play equal roles here. I am attempting, through sound, to explore aspects of being human, especially the engaging of our spirituality and the realization of our human potential.
It is my hope that these soundscapes open a contemplative space in the journey to the fullness of your human potential, and that you may truly experience the experience you are having while listening.
